Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is my absolute favorite recipe for chocolate chip cookies. They are crispy on the outside and soft in the middle and everyone gobbles them up when I bring them places. In fact, I brought these cookies on my first date with my fiance to give to him. So there’s a chance these cookies can ultimately get you a proposal.

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon hot water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar.
  3. Beat in the egg, then add in the vanilla and salt.
  4. Dissolve the baking soda in hot water. Add the mixture to the batter.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  6. Add the flour to the batter until mixed.
  7. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
  8. Bake for 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
